Just Who is Popping the Question?
From Parade Magazine, August 3, 2003
Andrew Firestone, who proposed to Jen Schefft on TV's The Bachelor in May, might be part of a dwindling breed--at least according to a "proposal survey" by Korbel, the champagne makers. They called more than 1,000 Americans and found that 59% don't think men should always be the ones to propose. In fact, 80% of the men said they'd be happy to hear "Will you marry me?" from a significant other.
While 61% of the ladies think a woman actually should pop the question, less than 50% said they would propose to their guy. (No word, however, on whether the women are expected to get down on one knee and bring the ring.)
